Somerset food and drink Wyfe of Bath cheese

Bath Soft Cheese & tours

It's a fascinating day out for the whole family at Bath Soft Cheese's farm in Kelston near Bath.

A cafe and cheese counter is open every day, and you can sit in the viewing gallery overlooking the calf pens and milking parlour. If you're there around 2.30pm you'll catch the milking which is fascinating. On cheese-making days, you'll get a birds-eye view of production from another viewing gallery over the cafe. The cows produce one million litres of milk per year and around 60% is turned into Bath Soft cheeses, some goes into their icecream and the rest is sent on to another cheese maker.

Contact them in advance to book a full tour but you can feed the chickens and use the viewing galleries at any time during opening hours.

Bath Soft Cheese was crowned Supreme Champions at the 2019 International Cheese Awards. Their great range of tasty cheeses includes Bath Soft Cheese, Wyfe of Bath, the Merry Wyfe and the 2014 World Champion Bath Blue Cheese. Made with vegetarian rennet, with a soft light caramel colour, Wyfe of Bath's distinctive shape is because the curd is placed in cloth lined baskets.
